Cell

Involuntarily committed to a padded room,

cushions on the walls

confined in the cell,

a mattress on the floor.

There is no mirror above the tiny sink in the bathroom

and no stopper.

a lone toilet and no seat. No tub to drown oneself

and always escorted there.

Pacing, pacing around the cell.

flinging the body from one side of the cell to the other

till collapsing, all energy drained.

energy slumps when cells become damaged or destroyed …

oxygen stops circulating.

if one cell in the body could slide under that door—

if just one cell could detach itself from the larger whole,

then the next cell, and the next until every part of my body

is on the other side of the door, how long would it take to reassemble

the larger self one cell at a time?

Skin cells reconstruct first, add the mitochondria,

neurons and nerve cells etc.

if one could vaporize on the other side, there would still be locks

in the hallways.

A padded brain,

fully functioning brain cells would suggest

the best course of action is to discover contraband

a wayward

confiscated

cell phone,

to call for help.

Somebody rescue me.

Rescue me.
